What is SCI Houston?

Our Chapter and Foundation are dedicated to passionately advocating for both local and global hunting issues, ensuring that hunters and wildlife are protected for generations to come. We work tirelessly to oppose restrictive firearm regulations that threaten the rights of responsible hunters, while standing firm in our commitment to defend hunters of all species across the globe. Whether it’s big game, waterfowl, or upland birds, we ensure every hunter’s voice is heard and supported.

Our mission goes beyond advocacy—we actively work to protect and conserve wildlife through innovative conservation programs. One of our top priorities is funding anti-poaching efforts, fighting back against illegal wildlife trade, and ensuring that future generations can experience the thrill of the hunt. With a focus on stewardship, we are committed to educating local hunters and youth on the critical role they play in preserving wildlife habitats, ensuring the ethical and sustainable management of wildlife for the future.

But we don’t just talk the talk—we take action. Through memberships and generous donations, we directly fund conservation initiatives that have made a remarkable impact. To date, our efforts have generated over $5.6 billion for wildlife conservation programs worldwide, helping safeguard ecosystems, protect endangered species, and enhance the future of wildlife for all.

Join us in this vital mission, where every contribution makes a tangible difference in the fight for wildlife conservation, sustainable hunting, and the continued protection of our natural world.

RL Cook

Growing up in Kansas among nothing but farm and ranch communities, hunting & fishing conservation was as much a part of life as taking the tractor another round.  Working to get my hunter safety at the age of 10, I immediately stepped in line and began the love of hunting by pushing pheasants. Joining groups like Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Foundation, and ultimately a life membership with SCI, the goal is the same to retain the rights of hunting, create habitat, and invite more young folks to the greater hunting & fishing communities. It’s the same passion for the outdoors that I have that’s born into the SCI family locally and even nationally.  The comradery and values of the Houston Chapter demonstrate the efforts, culture, and values of today’s outdoorsman, putting hunters first.

She joined the Republican Party of Texas as a Regional Director of Election Integrity where Carmen worked to ensure that Harris County was a core focus in the statewide effort to protect the vote.
